A back garden dog birthday party during lockdown.
Yesterday was Fred's 6th birthday.
So I decided I was going to throw him a doggy birthday party in my back garden. And, seeing as I'm a super dog-friendly photographer, I just had to get some shots of what we got up to!

If you've been following my photos for a little while, you might recognise Fred from last year's styled wedding shoot about having dogs at your wedding. He's a super model! He's super chill, especially for a Jack Russell, and even consented to wearing a party hat for a few photos - a dog birthday party essential...

We had some cuddly guests come along to be part of the fun. Pluto very kindly brought Fred a present - meaty chews, his favourite! I made sure to get everyone together for a group photo.

I also jumped on the lockdown baking bandwagon and made Fred his very own dog-friendly birthday cake! After some googling I came across this really simple recipe from the Blue Cross and gave it a go. Baking has never been my strong suit, but this seemed to turn out OK!
We got the family to sing 'Happy Birthday' over a Whatsapp video call before Fred blew out his candle and scoffed some cake.

With a bit of time left at the end of the day, I gave Fred a little birthday portrait session (gotta get that content for his Instagram!) He's such a poser :)

I love taking photos of dogs, or your pets in general. Having a pet is such a wonderful thing, and I think they should be celebrated at every opportunity.
If you would like to get some pet portraits with your family (when it is safe to do so again) do get in touch - I so love to hear about your pet pals.

I know it's a little blurry (my husband took it) but I love this photo anyway!
