A cosy October wedding in Southampton with all the feels...

Lucy and Ian's autumn wedding at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Southampton was such a wonderful, love-filled day and I'm so happy to be sharing their images.

Family was such an important part of their day; from their two young children being absolute superstars, Ian's twin brother as his best man, a brilliant reaction from father of the bride seeing his daughter in her wedding dress and the grooms parents shedding those happy tears - I loved every minute of it.

The couple chose the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Southampton as their wedding venue and it was perfect for those cosy, autumnal wedding vibes. The main wood panelled room has strings of fairy lights across the ceiling which gives it an intimate feel. And as a creative wedding photographer, I couldn't help but play around with them during Lucy and Ian's couple portraits!

I started the day with Lucy and her bridesmaids getting ready in one of the hotel rooms. It was all go and you could feel the excitement building! After one of the best 'first look' reactions I've seen from the father of the bride we went in to the ceremony. Lucy and Ian's little boy Oskar nearly stole the show, but Lucy looked stunning in her Brides of Southampton dress and you could feel the love in the room. It was a beautiful ceremony.

“Katherine captured our special day in a beautifully creative way- we are so happy with the moments she caught.
She made us feel so relaxed and at ease from the moment we met with her.”

While their guests were enjoying the drinks reception I snuck Lucy and Ian off for a quick couple shoot in the hotel grounds. It was quite a drizzly day but we managed to dodge the showers for these shots!

Back inside, the room had been turned around for the wedding breakfast with blossom tree centrepieces and games to keep the guests entertained. The speeches were brilliant and got everyone laughing. My day ended after Lucy and Ian cut their cake (a gorgeous creation by the lovely Julie at The Dottie Cake Company) and hit the dance floor for their first dance, quickly joined by their guests. The party was in full swing when I said my goodbyes and I'm sure everyone had a good night!

Thank you Lucy and Ian for asking me to capture your day.
